PTI Blog Hop Colour Combo: Aqua + Melon hello

I just love the colour combination this month - so springy and uplifting!  I decided to use some of my beloved pearlescent embossing paste with a stencil.  I used an old thick paper folder to make a stencil with the Diagonal Stripes cover plate.  It's a great way to recycle and make a sturdy stencil using a cover plate.  I then smeared the pearlescent embossing paste all over the front of a card and let it dry while I did some watercolouring.
I took some watercolour paper and messily painted some inks mixed with my aqua pen - Hero Arts Soft Granite, Studio Calico Coral Bay and Jenni Bowlin Speckled Egg.  I cut the paper with the Hello die and stacked it with two white die cuts to make it a little more sturdy.  I added some Wink of Stella glitter using the pen and adhered it to the card front.

A very simple sparkly card!

PTI Blog Hop - Melon+Aqua: wishing you a fabulous day

I used the blog hop colour combination as a jumping off point for this card:
I used one of the less used images from PTI's Leave it Be with one of my favourite new inks - Fresh Pool.  This is a gorgeous minty teal turquoise shade ... I did some generational stamping to add some depth trying to vary the heights as well.
I then added a sentiment from Fillable Frames and used Fresh Melon ink on the bottom of the card base to add a hint of this colour.  I popped up the card panel on foam dots and that's about it!

Misc: foam dots

PTI Blog Hop - Melon/Aqua: feathery shaker card

I used Papertrey's colour combination as a bit of inspiration for a shaker card.  I don't have adhesive foam so used three layers of adhesive cork - it worked really well, actually!
I stamped the feather image using Fresh peach ink and then added an Aqua Mist panel over top.  Lots and lots of shimmering clear sequins and that's it!  I was going to add a sentiment and/or use an impression plate on the Aqua Mist panel but kept it simple and added nothing else ...  In hindsight, I think a bit of dry embossing would've been quite nice but alas ... :)
It's actually quite nice to have some sentiment free cards on hand - you can stamp one to the inside to personalize or just keep it sentiment-less ...

PTI Blog Hop - Aqua/Melon: with sympathy

This month's blog hop over at Papertrey Ink is all about this gorgeous colour combination:
I had to make a sympathy card earlier this week for a dear friend and decided to use these colours as my inspiration.
I used one of my beloved sets, Natural Beauties, to stamp the flowers with Fresh Pool ink all over the card panel.  I removed a section and used that space to stamp a Fillable Frames sentiment using Fresh Peach ink.
I covered the panels with lots and lots of foam dots and adhered it to the card base to add some dimension.
I quite like the look of the flowers without all the layers - the graphic is a little more airy and light ... Next time I do a card with a panel cut out, I will make sure to cut it lower (or higher) ... I didn't really mean to centre it but that's how it turned out ... alas! :)

PTI MIM and Blog Hop - Artsy Watercolouring and Melon/Aqua: thankful for you

I decided to combine the watercolouring technique from the Make it Monday over at Papertrey Ink and the colour combination from this month's blog hop:
May-Blog-Hop-Inspiration
I stamped a bunch of Mini Bloom flowers with Studio Calico Coral Bay and Jenni Bowlin Speckled Egg, adding a Signature Greetings II sentiment and leaves with Hero Arts Soft Granite.
I used the In Bloom impression plate to add some texture to the panel after a little watercolouring around the flowers ... kept it messy and a bit uneven for an 'artsier' look ... not that making it even would've been that easy! :)
I mounted this to a mid tone gray card base ... love this shade with these colours - hopefully PTI will come out with a colour like this soon ....

PTI MIM and May Blog Hop: Artsy Watercolouring + Aqua & Melon -- Thinking of you

This week's Make it Monday over at Papertrey Ink is all about watercolouring over dye ink stamped images.  I took this as a jumping off point and combined it with the colour combination for this month's blog hop:
May-Blog-Hop-Inspiration
Gorgeous colours, right?  I took out some stamp sets, inks, my aqua brush and watercolour paper and started getting inky.

I did a slightly different take on the watercolouring technique Betsy shared and stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black and then outlined messily with Studio Calico Coral Bay and Jenni Bowlin Speckled Egg dye inks with an aqua brush.
I then stamped on the edges with an Irrestible Ikat image.  Super simple card but fun to make!
I added it to a kraft card base and that's it ...  I like how you can see the texture of the watercolour paper ... something a little different from the usual smooth card stock ...

PTI Make it Monday #163- Envelope Wraps

This week's Papertrey Make it Monday (#163) is all about envelope wraps. Danielle Flanders' are gorgeous!!  I decided to make one for my Mother's Day card with some grey cardstock since the contrast of a white envelope and the grey wrap is nice and subtle.

Ok, first the card, and then the wrap!  I used a Quatrefoil cover plate cut as a stencil with some white embossing paste that I then covered with Ranger rock candy glitter - this stuff well ... rocks! :)
Here is the glitter up close with the Feather Finery die cut (stamped in Fresh pool and navy):
And I tried to capture the shine of the Studio Calico Shine mist that I added - not sure if you can see it better above or below ...
I used a new to me set from Winnie and Walter - love the oversized sentiments - they look so great with pigment inks!
And now for the envelope wrap - I mimicked the same colours on the card and inside for the wrap.  I used one of the Edgers dies (Edgers #3) for the edge to give a decorative finish.  I stamped the large feather and sprinkles and then the cute little birdie on the other side with some decorative SC washi.
I added some Michaels washi on the envelope itself and adhered the wrap using Glossy Accents - that stuff will get anything to stick like no other!
Here's the front of the wrap after it was adhered:
 and the back:
I will definitely make some more wraps for cards - they are so fun!! :)  Thanks for the idea, Danielle!
